One Word
I haven't seen this played anywhere. I got it off a non-stitchy blog and thought I'd share it here.
You get to answer with one word. (oh and if you'd leave a comment that you snagged it, I'd be tickled pink.)

The monsters are back.
Friday night the puppies were in and out of the house at least 4 times. Saturday morning Husband left to surf at 5:30 and I sort of just snoozed after I heard his Jeep head down the road. I think I was sort of putting out mental vibes of the "sleep puppies....don't bother mommie puppies..." those silly kind of things when it occured to me it was awfully quiet in the house. You know, the kind of quiet when there's no electricity! I got up and realized it was 6:30. I hopped in the shower (don't know why I thought this would help). I sat at my desk to put my face on since it faces east and had a time keeping the makeup brushes away from Harley. She is such a sneak and wants to possess everything she sees you touch!
Husband came in and immediately tells me the traffic lights aren't working out in town, and I inform him NO lights are working in our house. So he hits the shower and we head down south to pick up his race package and then to town. The mall is the closest place we could think of that had air conditioning, and because there are no traffic lights it took us a good half hour to get there. We grabbed lunch and walked around for awhile then decided to go to the movies. We saw Transformers, which I loved, since Son grew up playing with them. When we finally got back home the power had been on all of 11 minutes.
We went to bed early since neither of us had slept well the night before, plus we had to get up at 4:30 to head back south for Husband's triathlon. The puppies were in and out again all night long (murder was mentioned by one of us). One of the times they headed out we heard the fence "popping" like something was trying to get in or out. We closed the puppie door and locked them in the room with us and they took turns "berf-ing" all night long.
Triathlon went great, we were both pooped, but neither of us could nap because the puppies were in and out barking at everything (starting to see a pattern here?). So we crashed early again last night, and you guessed it! The puppies were in and out again, but THIS time we found out why. Husband goes outside to where fearless Harley snapping and snarling ready to eat something. He picks her up and tosses her in the house, just as I'm coming to the door - she launches herself at the door and is practically frothing at the mouth. I see Husband through the door wrestling with Bandit and the only word I can understand him say is "coyote." Husband was standing with the puppies at the gate and a coyote charged the fence WITH HIM STANDING THERE!
So the puppies prowled the house all night long and Husband and I think that including Friday night we've probably had about 12 hours of sleep.

It's a done deal.
Husband met again with the same group yesterday and the Colonel in charge told him the orders were his. So, on Monday morning, Husband will start all the paperwork necessary to re-enlist. As far as Iraq is concerned, it's a wait and see. There are 2 "pumps" going in 2008. One in January and one in July. In our perfect little world - as it now stands - he would go in January, leaving me living on base in our current house so I wouldn't have to worry about feeling "unsafe" living by myself in the non-military world.
I keep having all these things come to mind out of the blue - we won't be going to Vegas for the Marine Corps Ball this year (good thing), I'll have to mow the yard (horrible thing), wonder if I can talk my boss into a raise with the threat of finding another job (evil thing), I'll have 4 vehicles to maintain by myself (damn!) and plants to keep alive in the house (double damn!). Silly stuff that just randomly strikes my already overloaded brain when I'm least expecting it.
Sigh.
A lot of heavy sighing going on too.
I feel like I'm always counting down to zero, and can just never get there.
Sniff.

Yooohoooo. Anyone home?
I came home Saturday from my nail appointment to find Husband sitting in my office installing a brand new 19" widescreen monitor. Ain't he sweet! It was a s'prise!
I have tons of emails to go through and I'm slowly getting there. Fortunately a lot of them are deletable, but being unable to sit for long periods in front of my home computer is keeping me from getting caught up with them as fast as I'd like.
I have many thank-you emails to send out to my birthday group, but want you all to know collectively that I have received from you.
Now to what's been going on with us.
Son is still living on his own, but struggling. I ended up going grocery shopping for him a couple of weeks ago because he was starving. His boss took time off from work and when boss doesn't work, neither does son, so he doesn't get paid. He had a choice between paying rent, electricity and groceries. Mom took care of groceries.
Puppies still sweet as ever. I know I keep promising pictures, and they are coming. I promise!
I had a test on my left hand this week to determine if I have carpal tunal or nerve damage. It's nerve damage. I'm now waiting to hear from my primary care giver about an orthapedic surgeon referral.
Husband is doing okay. He is continuing to keep a very close eye on his health. We're both eating better for it. We're both in the planning process of what we're going to do for the future. Right now we're discussing him re-enlisting for another 3 years. Yep, you read that right. Sigh. A Marine in his field has been forced into retirement and it's very likely that Husband will be getting orders to fill his billet. It's just down the road from where we are now, so we have to decide what we're going to do about that. (move further south, live on base or off base, etc.) Husband has been in unrelated meetings this week with many people, one who happens to be the decision maker as to where Marines in Husband's field get stationed. Hopefully by around August 10 we'll know for sure, but it looks like Husband may be headed back to Iraq if he is moved into that position. I have no idea how I really feel about this right now other than scarred spitless. I'm trying to not think about that right now though.
Stitching. Yes, I'm stitching, but very slowly due to my hand. It's my left hand and the hinderance is not being able to hold my qsnap for very long. I know I could use a stand, but I don't want to adjust to using one unless I absolutely have to. Old dog, new tricks kind of thing. :)
So that's a quick rundown on what's been going on.

Computerless :(
My monitor is dead :( It's been dying for the past 2 weeks, making me think my computer was shutting down at random and more frequently. I'm trying to look on the bright side, that it's not my hard drive!!
Anyway, if you've emailed me before about 2 hours ago - let's say 7 a.m. pacific time - I haven't received it. I never shut down my computer, so all my email is downloaded to my hard drive as it comes in...and it's rather hard to shut down a computer properly without a monitor. So, email me again, because I can access it through a back door, but only for an hour or so a day, Monday - Friday, at work. Hopefully I'll have a new monitor this coming weekend.
Sorry!

Eep!
I cannot believe it went so long without my blogging again. I truly intended to keep at it the last time I posted. Since then I've been stitching some again. I've got RRs to catch up on. It's going slow though because I've completely lost feeling in my little and ring finger and am wearing a brace on that hand. I'm waiting to hear from the doctor about a nerve conduction test to see if I'm going to have surgery or not. I am determined to get myself healthy! I've been walking on the treadmill and Husband has set up a training bike for me. I'll start riding the bike this week in the evenings. As it is I'm already getting up before 5:30 to walk. We saw a nutritionist today to help with both our health needs. I found out I'm not eating enough! What a shock that was. I'll post puppy and stitching pictures soon. I have a bunch of puppy pictures.
