I need a vacation!

School - argh!  I wanna take my mid-term just to get it over with!  There's only 2 weeks left of the term after this week, as it is, and we still have a final!

This past weekend the electric company did some kind of work around the school so Monday all the campus was without internet or network access.  This meant we couldn't print and part of our test was formatting some documents and printing them out.  Well, 2 people didn't show up Monday and I think, even tho we didnt' have to test, the 2 people should be docked a grade because they didn't show up on test day.  We didn't have the test again today, since not all problems are repaired, and one of the people who wasn't there yesterday asked another student what was on the test.  The instructor found out about this and told the whole class today that in the future if you weren't in class on the scheduled test date, you'd lose a grade point plus take a different test altogether!  Yeah her!

Work - Is it wrong of me to get my feelings hurt over a non-recognized birthday?  Should I be too old for such things?

Earlier this year the day shift supervisor celebrated her 21st birthday.  The store manager brought her a bottle of champagne.  This past June the night shift manager (me) celebrated her 45th birthday, and except for one employee who works for me, not a single person wished me "happy birthday."

Normally every month the store pays for an icecream cake to celebrate every birthday during that month.  This Thursday is the employee's (who wished me a happy birthday) 20th birthday.  She won't be at work that day.  Today the store manager brought in a regular type cake, a card for everyone to sign, and flowers.  Picture my shocked face as he walks by with this stuff.  I asked him how come I didn't get flowers and was told that she (the employee) had asked for flowers.

Okay.

Later he was up front and I told him my feelings were hurt over the birthday thing.  When he asked me what I meant I told him I was hurt that not only did I not get cake, a card or flowers, but no one even acknowledged that it was my birthday and I worked that day.  He asked me when my birthday was and he said he didn't know and that my name should be added to the birthday list.  I showed him the list -- my name boldly printed under June -- and he hubled out on me and siad he was going to find out why no one let him know about my birthday.

Now I'm wondering if I should have just let it go.  Am I too sensitive...or too old?

And for something completely unrelated work wise.....

My vacation has been approved.

One whole week to do whatever!
