PART III

Can it get worse?

As a matter of fact yes it can. The weather has turned totally horrid!

Son plead guilty to a lesser charge on his DUI thingy and we ended up paying a $300 fine for him. Plus he has to do so many hours of substance abuse education something or other that will cost something, but we don't know how much yet. So he's back to giving us half his paycheck to pay off a debt.

Can it get any worse?

He got 8 slips from a local pawn shop today stating he had a 10 day grace period to get them out or let them go, whatever 'them' are. I freaked! I had two bracelets turn up missing before Christmas that I'm just sick about. One bought in Thailand by Husband for my birthday and another bought in Japan by me for just because. I just knew the pawn slips were for them. We drove over to the pawn shop and I had to pull my best helpless southern belle mom with a horrible son routine to get them to tell me if there were any bracelets in the items and after batting my eyes (figuratively) for an hour I found out they weren't mine. Son says friend Sam had him pawn some 'stuff' so they could party down one last time before Sam moved away to live with an uncle. Sam is not 18. I almost lost my cool and felt like punching Son out because of his attitude. But that would have given away my helpless belle routine so I covered until I got what I wanted then I got up in Son's face.

Can it get any worse? Yep, but it can get better too.

I had Husband in the car on the way home from said pawn shop and asked him why he wouldn't go and talk to the neighbors. He told me that he has talked to the neighbors (I voiced much surprise here) and said when he's been in the backyard they've come out and retrieved their dogs. He also said he can understand how it could be annoying if you sat at home all day long and had to listen to the dogs barking. I told him he was right that it's hard to concentrate on college studies to or watch TV before I went to work in the afternoons. He also said that he normally didn't care about the kids playing in the front yard as long as our cars weren't damaged but their complaining about Son's music has pissed him off (his words) and he doesn't want their kids in our yard anymore. I wonder if I should tell him I called Lincoln and told them the exact same thing.

And to cap off a perfectly awful day (since it is still early) the turkey breast I was going to cook for dinner smells rancid and now I don't know what to do for dinner. I feel like crying.
